Radishes and Radicchio

These are the first radishes from our garden this year. Look closely at the little radish on the right -- it is a Siamese twin. (click on photo to enlarge and see detail)

The radishes, sliced, and added to our BIG salads (with lots of stuff in them -- including some of that radicchio).

I have joined the Inspired By Friday Linky Party at The Inspired Room. Lots to see; go take a look.

Using Up the Radicchio, Part 1

The mature family members, with sophisticated palates, are having a salad plate tonight with lots of radicchio, arugula, and spicy sprouts. Here's a side view.

And an aerial view. I will dress mine fat-free McDougall-style; Bruce gets olive oil on his.

The Rancher's Apprentice

John is working this spring with his riding instructor, Candice. He is learning rural property management. He goes with Candice to barns, stables, and horse properties to inspect and care for the animals and structures. This work is a good fit for John's interests and skills.

Pretty Purple Flowers

I got an enormous bouquet of flowers today at Kroger's, on mark-down special for $2.99. This photo shows only 1/3 of them. I was able to fill 3 vases and place the bouquets here and there around the house.

I am joining the Turquoise Linky Party at The Single Nester. Lots of beautiful blues to see!

Beaucoup Radicchio!

I bought a little brown sack of marked down produce today. In this sack I saw two zucchini, a yellow squash, and a couple of small heads of radicchio. Lurking out of sight, and only discovered at home when I was putting away the groceries, were quite a few more heads of radicchio. This is a lot of radicchio to use up quickly. Can I do it?

Maple-Mustard Roasted Onions

Before...

And after (oops; I sampled an onion before remembering to take a photo).

The last of the 8 green bean seeds is coming up (in the lower right).

A fabulous display of TX Bluebonnets.
