Texas Pecans

We foraged these early this year from the outside perimeter of our housing development. The big old pecan trees had lined the property when it was a working ranch years ago.

    I had the hardest time cracking/shelling our pecans, so we just sold them!

    I'm always trying to get to the chestnuts that grow all over Chicago, but my timing is bad, and it doesn't help that I'm not entirely sure what a ripe chestnut actually looks like!
